Here it is!

Here it is! The Looksee Design website. And here he is – Maximillian Xavier Smith (doesn’t he look like he’s about to shout “goal!”) – a big reason this website got its butt in gear. Having a child sure does change things. For me, it’s made me feel the need to learn to play ukulele, identify birds, and learn to draw so that I have worthwhile things to teach him. I’m sure there are many other worthwhile things I can teach him that I already know how to do, like how to get dressed and talk and walk, and tie my shoes, and fall asleep on my own (!). But somehow having a child makes you want to do everything more better, the best yet and the most! And so I decided to get my design booty shaking.

I hope this site serves not just as an example of my work, but a center for what and who inspires me and hopefully inspires you. So, it seems appropriate given the time of year and the fact that I am currently working with this group to mention (drumroll) Holiday Matinee. HM has produced a new book called I Swear to Good You Are God at This. The purpose of the book is to inspire people to “make awesome.” It is a 72 page collection of the most awesome projects and people that author Dave Brown could find.

Speaking of “making awesome,” Holiday Matinee is working with Citizen Video to raise money for the Lindsay Community School in San Diego (a school for pregnant and parenting teens and their children). On Wednesday, December 23rd we’re having an Eve Before the Eve party at the Whistle Stop bar where both Holiday Matinee and Citizen Video will dj and one dollar from every beverage of holiday cheer will go to the Lindsay School. Isn’t that a fun way to do something good? If you know of other fun ways of doing something good, post them here.
